Nothing Worse by smcbride :: NR6

There is nothing worse than pulling up on scene of a working fire and reporting out on apparatus radio!

"Engine 48 is out at 8514 E. Northwest Hwy., we have got a four story apartment complex, ordinary construction with wood roof, lots of fire, people jumping from balcony, We are making a quick attack for rescue, give me a signal 2-11! Engine 57 bring water, Truck 37 come to front of structure with ladders and saws, people trapped." Passing command to second in company.

That sound of a persons last cry for help never leaves, You are lucky if you die in the fire, the one's who are burned bad and live for only a few days after go thru living hell. I sent 31 days in Parkland Hospital burn unit in Dallas , Texas with my own brother who was burned in a grain elevator explosion, he was a firefighter in Waco, Texas. I wouldn't wish that type of death on my worst enemy.

After 34 years of service, I still can't handle seeing burnt children at a fire scene, Lord knows it happens far to many times. If you don't have fire and smoke alarms in you apartments or house, get them soon, just might save your life!

Burn to Nothing by Eye.Of.Sage :: NR6

Burns are just painful......fire melts your flesh. It's just really painful.

trapped by Anonymous :: NR0

being trapped. all the others seem to be a sudden death, except with an exception of freezing and bleeding, but i sense that in both of these at some point or another you would loose the feeling of pain. while being trapped is just horrible. dying from exhaustion and dehydration would take a toll on your mind and you would just go crazy.

Bleed out all you're blood. by Eye.Of.Sage :: NR6

A few years ago, I use to have nose bleeds every now and then and it won't stop easily. The last 'big' nose bleed I had lasted 2 hours. The blood just rushes from my nostril. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with my nose, or my blood.

trapped by NastyPrincess :: NR5

Burning alive must be the worst, very worst, thing to survive. As for a death from it though, it would still be quicker than being trapped. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to be stuck in or under something and know that you're never going to get out. The panic and fear would make you wish you were dead looooong before you ever really did die. They say you can survive 12 plus days without water and 30 days without food. Argh! The agony!

exposure? by Anonymous :: NR0

You're under the blazing sun, hundreds of miles from anywhere; there's nothing, no water, no plants, nothing... nothing, of course, but a slow painful death. Anyone?
