It’s only been up for twelve hours or so … but the immediate response is definitely very negative. How would the loss of the Big Three affect you?
I’m actually a little curious whether or not overseas auto-makers would have any interest in buying out our devalued, bankrupt companies. I would think the unions themselves would actually be a purchase liability … they might want ownership of some American technologies and perhaps even a plant or two but I would bet they wouldn’t want to bring the unions on board.
It is sad that the American Taxpayor will be responsible to bail out 3 big US Automakers when we currently are struggling ourselves to make ends meet. Now that we are in a recession, not many in my working class can afford a new car. You drive around and see the car sales lots full and yet if the bailout is granted there will be more cars than people to buy them.
I would rather see relief on the credit card interest rates for people like me who are now being charged 29.99% interest from Bank of America and Chase Bank because of some late payments.
As a taxpayer, I would prefer my money help the individual not a car maker of which there are more cars than people and the roads are more congested than ever
