My fellow Americans.
Since you elected a former Harvard Law professor as your President, you would have expected him to appreciate the importance of due process in the Judicial system, meaning the right to a fair trial and all that goes with it.

However, I had reliable information that proved to me that Ossama Bin Laden had plotted to kill many Americans on 911, and that he remained a serious threat to the safety of our citizens. I wanted more than anything to bring him to justice in the proper manner, but he made that impossible by hiding where our Justice department, through the FBI, could not arrest him.
However, I am also your Commander in Chief, and therefore I had the means available to remove this threat and I felt obliged by my oath to do so. I chose a military method that was expedient though difficult and requiring courage and precision from the brave men involved. In the process our arch enemy was shot and killed.
He was given a military death in battle with an appropriate funeral , which is much more honorable than I believe he deserves.

I deeply regret that I was unable to bring this criminal fanatic to justice, but I want to reassure you that I understand and respect the laws of our country and that I will never use the military to enforce them. This incident was not a law enforcement action, rather, it was a military matter – combat with an enemy.

The same holds true to those who believe he was merely captured.
