Definition of Liberal by Occams
A definition of “Liberal” is needed because too many Americans believe that it is an insult used to deprecate those who oppose conservative views.
I set this poll, so I will define “Liberal” as one who is opposed to the idea that markets need lots of government regulation to overcome inherent weaknesses that can produce very bad results for consumers, and even for business.
By this definition, I suggest that most conservatives are in fact “liberals”.
I love that!
Nerdy political spectrum by Occams
I understand that, for many valid statistical reasons, this poll is far from being an adequate measure of the political and economic leanings of the regulars on this site, but I am still inviting comments on how this fits with your perception of the inhabitants.
To me it actually seems about right. We do have a good number of progressive thinkers, a lot of proud Christian conservatives, and some rugged individuals who hate to be categorized.
I am rather surprised that such a crude instrument could achieve this result.
