It’s coming people, and we’re going to sit idly by and let it happen. Obama’s $3.6 trillion budget for fiscal 2010 would bring federal, state and local spending to about 40% of the gross domestic product for things such as health care, education, public assistance, and of course the stimulus. Studies in Europe have shown that the greater amount that the State provides, the less willing individuals are to aid others. It is also damaging to donations to charities of all types. Can you imagine what would happen in the US if the Red Cross were to run out of money? Soon, this country will be adding another S to it’s name.

So far, all I see is an attempt by this administration to preserve and protect a capitalist system despite the fact that it almost imploded on its own accord. Simply infusing money into failing banks and a limited number of industries does not equate to socialism as the true socialists see it. (Let’s also not forget that it was the administration before the current one that began this process of bailouts and stimulus packages.)
In fact, now as I see the very beginnings of social unrest and class warfare like we saw when those people demonstrated outside the AIG exec’s homes, I’m starting to wonder what would happen if no attempt to bail out the banks were made, and many more businesses collapsed and homes were lost. If unemployment were to rise to 50% I’ll bet there would be a lot more people clamoring to be cared for by the government; real socialism , not anything like what is unfolding now.
Remember, capitalism, socialism and communism are economic systems and not necessarily political systems, even though history shows they often are closely tied. This country has always had some form of “socialist” practices. Every time your roads are plowed in the winter, (or roads are built for that matter) it falls under the realm of a socialist service. However, all the roads built and maintained by government funds in this country are used as a means of freedom for individuals to travel and businesses to transport goods under our capitalist economic system. I consider the bank bailouts to be an unfortunate version of the same preservation of infrastructure. Just like roads and bridges, this is an attempt to keep the money flowing; hardly a socialist endeavor. The administration is using bailout funds to support a failing insurance company. Under a socialist system, there would probably be no need for insurance companies at all; in fact the very nature of AIG was to provide a level of confidence for countless capitalist ventures.

The true socialist groups are almost laughing (Read this!) at the notion of people trying to label recent current events as “socialist”. (Many of these “true” socialists don’t even consider Barack Obama to be a liberal.)

American Flag by Anonymous

For everyone outside of the USA, your flag doesnt stand for freedom; to us it stands as a symbol of American “We know it all” arrogance. I have found that Americans tend to redicule anything not of American origin. Ever wonder why the US is disliked by many?
