Greatest ever Jerry Douglas. More gold than Elvis and Beetles combined. More music awards than all listed combined and I bet most of you never heard of him. Google him and see!
RE: Fact by Anonymous :: NR0 :: on 14 December 2006
Fact? Score 2, Informative? Hahaha. More like score 5, unsubstatiated lies! Is there anyone else that no one has ever heard of who is the greatest of all time? I'm dying to hear about them.
... groupies, hmph.
RE: Fact by lilsis :: NR5 :: on 14 December 2006
What do you define as the Greatest? Most awards, best tricks, fastest fingers? Or are you looking for all these things. And to you Mr."I Have No Name", just because you have never heard of him does not make him bad. Try listening to Blue Grass once and a while.

Dear groupie #2,
Why does everyone on this site like defining stuff so much? Since you asked: definition of great
Of note:
I would say that 3 and 4 may apply. I don't know though as I've never heard him, but let us assume that they do. 1 and 2 definitely do not, especially when compared to the others on the list.
For just about every other guitarist on that list 1, 2, 3, and 4 apply. So, groupies, keep on rockin' but spare us the "facts."
RE: Fact by Anonymous :: NR0 :: on 14 December 2006
Quite possibly the greatest.

Why does everyone on this site like defining stuff so much?
By asking how someone defines a particular word or phrase, we are ensuring that we both understand what each other means. But, agreeing on a meaning is actually fairly difficult. However, until it occurs, a debate at any substantial depth just can't happen.
definition of great
Actually, I think she was asking about your definition of greatest, not what is great. The term greatest implies they are better than every one else, period. This has nothing to do with being a groupie. So, the question, once again, is, better in what sense?
RE: Fact by lilsis :: NR5 :: on 14 December 2006
Well if someone wins more awards, I would think that would make them better.
RE: Fact by Liz_Miracle :: NR5 :: on 17 December 2006
Yes, something objective to be measured, aka timed as speediest at scales, or able to correctly play a rhythm in measured time.
RE: Fact by wyldeling :: NR6 :: on 18 December 2006
able to correctly play a rhythm in measured time.
What about jazz where the nature of the tune changes with playing?
RE: Fact by Anonymous :: NR0 :: on 14 December 2006
I normally don't respond to anonymous poster, Guess it a good thing you posted anonymously. Especially after calling me a lair, rest of this statement is understood! Show me anybody that has won more music awards than this man has gotten in any field of music, this guy does it all for rock to blue grass. CheckWikipedia out yourself. This is just a partial of Jerry's Bio. Facts talk and bullshit walks, now walk on Mr. Anonymous.

Clever tactic ....log out, cuss a little, and log back in .....wouldn't want a bad score, would you....I bet no one sees through that smcbride.
Anyway, you still have no substantial facts. And the facts you do have, you distort. How's this for an analogy: Willams College Football was undefeated this year. USC, however, lost twice. Using your logic, I should assume Williams college to be better because they had a better (undefeated!) season, but we all know that's not true. Williams isn't even division I....they're not even in the same league as USC.
The same is true for your guy. You have shown some awards, but now you must put them in perspective. The fact you have failed to mention is that no one listens to bluegrass. It's a small genre and therefore a good musician is more likely to soak up all of the awards. You can drop all of the facts you want, but don't forget the biggest fact of them all: rock dominates the field. Your guy may be good, but he's not great. He's division II and you're comparing him to division I.
Wyld Stallions RULE! by VnutZ :: NR8 :: on 14 December 2006
Now seriously everyone ... there are no greater guitarists than Bill and Ted of the Wyld Stallions. After all, their music "proves responsible for bringing peace and harmony to the world and creating a utopia on Earth."
I think that trumps any small potatos awards these guys have earned. Plus, my personal air guitar automatically supercedes anything of the country genre because ... well, it's country.
RE: Fact by smcbride :: NR6 :: on 14 December 2006
Like nobody knows who you are! You can give me all the bad scores you want, you division III "Pantomath" piece of shit. You think its funny calling me a liar for my opinion. Laugh it up funny boy!
RE: Fact by Anonymous :: NR0 :: on 14 December 2006
With nine Grammy Awards, more than 1,500 album credits, Douglas is arguably the best know ever.
RE: Fact by smcbride :: NR6 :: on 14 December 2006
I see you scored yourself funny, I agree!
