Apple's market penetration was always kept well down down below that of Microsoft because of its high prices and lack of alternative sourcing on hardware and software. The shortage of pirate software was no doubt also a big disincentive for many potential buyers. These things seem unlikely to change.
Microsoft's poor control over its IP has greatly assisted its penetration.

There are so many people out to steal the secrets in my head that I can't let my guard down for a second! Not only have I abandoned my eleca-tronics, but I wear a tin foil hat to keep the satelites from getting my grid within 6 digits. To get my O-Nerd fix and to let the Berkely crowd know that I am down with the protest I walk 10 miles to the next town over's local library and access the intranets with my library card. Afterwards I go to extreme lengths of thievery and pilfrage to get the sign-in roster and any proof that I was there. It'll all be in my manifesto. And that will be in Spanish. Translated from Silmarillion style High Elvish. I hear them coming, I gotta go.

I hate to burst your bubble - but you should doublecheck on the effectiveness of your tin foil hat. May I suggest Navajo for your manifesto's default language? So much more X-Files ...
