Does it matter? by jmarkdavison :: NR6 :: Show
I know the RNC is telling me it matters in the three direct mailings I've received from them in the last week, but I don't know.
The GOP has produced years of bloated budgets and deficits. Democrats promise to balance it, but the only way they're gonna do that is effectively by raising taxes. I don't want that either.
Republicans have not done a great job fiscally. They've been atrocious, been corrupted by power, and don't deserve to lead. But the thought of San Francisco wacko liberal Nancy Pelosi third in line for the presidency is enough to make me pray the GOP retains the house.
This election, like many we've had since the Donkeys lost their special purpose, is "Republicans vs. Not Republicans." It's sort of a devil-you-know vs. the devil-you-don't situation. I know the Democrats well enough to not vote for their no core belief, no plan-having, tax-and-spend (as opposed to tax cut-and-spend), pandering candidates, even if the alternative sucks too.
"The Republican Congress sucks, but not as bad as a Democratic Congress would" is what I'll say when I hold my nose and pull the lever for Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and George "Macaca" Allen (R-Va.). Those two are both pretty good conservatives, actually, so it's more a question of rooting for the GOP in my case.
I'll also be pulling the lever for the traditional family as we have a "definition of marriage" amendment, since common sense apparently isn't enough to define marriage anymore. Take that, you homophiles.
