| Young: robbed of my golden years | |
| Old: watching my body deteriorate | |
| Painfully: from some agonizingly slow problem | |
| Violently: from a sudden crime or incident | |
| Alone: with no family or friends | |
| Anonymous: never making a mark on the world | |
| In vain: for absolutely no reason at all | |
| In sin: denied from the promises of my faith | |
| I am not afraid to die at all |
What the reasons behind why the people who voted for, I am not afraid to die at all are?
my vote comes from pure common sense. without a belief, or basis of faith, death is just a natural occurrence. death will come, an inevitability that makes all life common. just as my parents before me and my son after me, life will end, and there's nothing to be afraid of. it also helps that i am a staunch atheist and without the fog of religion, living becomes more precious. i have no speculation of what happens 'after life', only that i take the time to make what best of the one i've got.

'Never Gonna Die' by gnifyus :: NR7 :: Show
For many of these choices, it's not so much the actual death I would be afraid of, but that which leads up to it. For the "Slowly/Painfully" choice, I would think death would be a welcome thing. "Watching my Body Deteriorate", well that's not so great either, since I'm just on the cusp of seeing/feeling signs of that, being in my early 40's. I picked "Young" because I have children and I really want to see what "becomes of them" after all that work and worry; and from the knowledge that there's more work and worry yet to go.
My wife and I have been lucky enough to know seven of our grandparents, and 3 of them are still alive, in their 90's and in the various stages of disrepair that come from being that age.
As my grandfather stiffly and carefully tries to get up out of a chair, he proclaims," Boy o' Boy, I guess I'm going to be seeing St. Peter pretty soon, and none too quick either…"
"But what will you think when that day actually comes?" I ask.
"When that day comes, then I'll change my mind I'll bet."
In case you're wondering, that's how you get to be 93 and counting.
