Which Came First, the Chicken or the T-Rex?

Newspaper current event by markmcb on 13 April 2007, tagged as bio

Forget the egg. Protein extracted from a 68-million-year-old dinosaur bone have provided what appears to be biological proof that the Tyrannosaurus rex is related to that tasty bird we all know and love, the chicken.

In a quote from the article, John Asara, the Harvard Medical School researcher credited with the findings stated, "It's the first molecular evidence of this link between birds and dinosaurs."

Many scientists have long believed the link to exist, but no direct soft tissue proof has existed. Movies like Jurassic Park have highlighted the possible link as the basis for fiction, but now it seems that the belief may be true.
