Over the last two years, the most frequent feedback we have received is that OmniNerd is often intimidating in terms of content and has kept many of you from submitting content. We thought adding the polls might remove some of this, but we change the polls out fairly frequently, keeping them from becoming an optimal venue for discussion. Given our dilemma, we thought long and hard and came up with the concept of the Coffee Shop.
The Coffee Shop works much like its name implies: walk in, sit down, and toss out whatever is on your mind for the group to discuss. Unlike our news and articles where we demand that our authors provide sources, anything goes in the Coffee Shop. Submit five paragraphs and 30 academic sources, or submit a one-liner; as long as you provide the groundwork to start a conversation we will consider it. So if you've ever wondered if Mac is better than PC, or wanted to discuss the dangers of organized religion, or have ever felt like sharing with the other OmniNerds your experience-based inferences on Chinese communism compared to American capitalism, the Coffee Shop is the forum.
One last note is that Coffee Shop topics will remain up as long as they are "hot." So, unlike news, articles, and polls that eventually scroll away as newer content arrives, the Coffee Shop will highlight the best discussions allowing others to fade away into the archives. So what are you waiting for? Submit your topics and let's talk.
I understand keeping the topic hot, but what about the coffee? I still don't have a mug!

The name would imply you are serving coffee.
