There's probably no one who watched TV in the 70's and 80's that didn't experience the underwater exploration of Jacques Cousteau. Well, it seems his grandson Fabien is keeping with family tradition and pushing the limits of sea research by employing a shark submarine to help him with his study of the Great White shark. The submarine is unique because it is designed to look, move, and feel like a Great White shark with the hopes that other sharks will accept it as a peer and act natural around it. The 14-foot long sub is made of 2-inch thick steel ribs that are covered with Skin Flex, a skin-like material used in prostheses and animatronics. Fabien says that though the Great White sharks seem to be accepting the life-like submarine as a real shark, they seem to sense something is not right and treat him more like a 'retarded cousin from Austrailia.'

Shark Replacement by Brandon :: NR9 :: Show
I didn't realize how little is known about Great White Sharks other than their extreme aggression. Recently, one was released from a California aquarium after being held for 198 days (a new record) when it started to 'hunt' it's tank mates. I know Shamu was in captivity a lot longer than that... There must have been a name mix up: Great White should have been Killer, and Killer should have been Great White and Black Splotched like a Cow that Likes to Cuddle.
