Sex Training for Pandas

Newspaper current event by VnutZ on 27 March 2008, tagged as ecology, reproduction, and endangered species

The Giant Panda is one of the world's most endangered species with only 1600 known animals still in the wild. Although wildlife groups have worked to save the Giant Panda for more than twenty years, the animal proves difficult to preserve because of errant pregnancies and a seemingly unwillingness to mate. In 2006, researchers addressed the problem by making the animals watch "panda porn" which surprisingly had positive results with a boom in panda births. Although successful, the measures were not enough. Now, conservationists are teaching the Giant Panda "sex moves" to inspire them, which has resulted in 30% of the bears being sexually capable as opposed to only 10% a decade ago. The deputy chief for a reserve describes the process, "We arrange love-making between two excellent pandas in front of inexperienced pandas, which have never had sex."
