Just how much would sea level have to rise to affect 100 million people's lives? According to NASA who says they now have the tools necessary to gather such information, it's only 1 meter. By coupling land data with satellite data, scientists are better equipped to not only track the height of sea level, but also to understand the mechanisms that are leading to the constant rise.
Interestingly enough, sea level has risen at an average rate of .07 inches per year for the last 50 years. However, in the last 12 years that rate has been .12 inches per year. One can't help but wonder at what point this becomes a serious issue for major governments around the world.
