OmniNerd Grows Behind the Scenes

Newspaper

current event by markmcb on 15 September 2006, tagged as omninerdnews

Unbeknownst to many of you, OmniNerd has been growing behind the scenes. We've got a few things we'd like to share with you.

First, you're reading this from our brand-spanking-new dedicated server. For two years OmniNerd has struggled in a shared hosting environment, but finally we are free from the constraints of other administrators and the competition of resources with other sites! This new server helps us to keep up with our ever-increasing load and allows us to implement some features that were not possible before due to uncontrollable constraints in the shared environment. Your visits to our page helped to make this move possible as increased ad revenue meant we could put more money back into the server without having to put willwaddell out on the street more than he already is. Keep up the good work OmniNerds! Your contributions in the form of visits, content, and donations will ensure OmniNerd's existence for many years to come.

Second, you may have read an OmniNerd news post a few days ago about one of the net's celebrities and his amazing contributions to digg. Well, PNerd9 (AKA p9s50W5k4GUD2c6) has joined the moderation team here at OmniNerd and is helping us to bring you an even better site. If he makes it through the pit of tigers and survives the rattlesnake venom cocktail, then you may even see him added as a permanent staff member on the hallowed contact page.

As an added bonus and in addition to the title of this post, we're growing on the Internet too! OmniNerd will welcome its 500th user before the close of this month and about 15% of you have joined in the last 2 months. OmniNerd is definitely creeping its way onto more browsers so help us to ensure our new users have a great first experience: submit content! It's easier than you think.
