In 2007, Israel destroyed a Syrian facility alleged to be a future nuclear reactor on construction. Both Israeli and American intelligence indicated the site was being constructed with the cooperation of North Korean nuclear engineers. Despite the event's occurrence more than six months ago, the link between North Korea and Syria regarding nuclear technology is still stirring controversy. Senior intelligence officials recently briefed Washington lawmakers that the facility was within weeks of full operation. Furthermore, the intelligence includes video footage of North Korean involvement in both supplying and constructing the nuclear facility, which was never disclosed by North Korea in its disclosure of nuclear technology. Syria still denies the facility was nuclear and the IAEA is displeased about having been left out of the loop regarding the facility's nuclear nature.

I believe it was Occams that once commented on some crappy ads served up by AdSense. I noticed today on the RSS feed that Yahoo Ads for this news item advertised "Cheap Cell Phone Rate North Korea - Call Your Family in North Korea, Pay Only Local Rates." After having served over there for so long and learning as much as I could about the North Koreans ... my only thoughts on hearing such a statement are - riiiiiiiight.
