Notes of Discord for eHarmony

Newspaper

current event by willwaddell on 31 May 2007, tagged as lawjustice

eHarmony, the selective online marriage-oriented matchmaking website founded by Dr. Neil Clark Warren, has come under fire for its refusal to offer matchmaking services to homosexuals. Linda Carlson, a lesbian from the San Francisco area, brought suit against the company based on her Feb 2007 attempt to use the website. Her lawyers posit that more will join the lawsuit making it into a class action matter. Todd Schneider, Carlson's lawyer, argues that homosexuals "have the right and desire to meet other people with whom they can fall in love." eHarmony's has always had a strong link to the Christian community and many have attributed its success to its promotion through James Dobson's Focus on the Family organization.

Right??? by Anonymous :: NR0

Rights??? What rights are we talking about here? The right to date people via eHarmony? Where is that in the constitution? did I skip school that day? What about Neil Warren's right to own a company and run it how he sees fit? How come no one is concerned about his rights? There are plenty of dating services out there for homosexuals. This case has nothing to do with them beign denied the ability to find love. When Linda Carlson tried to use eHarmony, she had one thing in mind - bring down a company that she doesn't like. This is an attack, not some issue of rights. If she was only interested in teh ability to date, she'd find another site, or even better, start her own site for homosexuals and make a ton of money. Leave eHarmony alone. Their freedom of association is way more clear than Linda Carlson's right to date via this particular site.

Completely agree with "Right" by Anonymous :: NR0

You are correct. This "suit" is only meant to push the enevolope to see if eventually ALL Christian-based business can be "brought" down. The GLBT agenda is so obviously out of control that what will eventually happen is that people are going to see what these people are up to and finally get fed with both their "agenda" and their Gestapo tactics.

Linda Carlson has more than enough venues for "contact" with other women. This is about getting not a foot-hold but rather total control. It is also about money and getting notority. Not everyone agrees with this "lifestyle". Nowhere is it written that everyone must.

One day perhaps the GLBT will find itself being sued for "trampling" all over everyone else's rights! Which is something that they, apparently, have no problem doing these days.

They have done this with the churches. This is why many of us have voluntarily given up going to church. Let's see how long it takes for homosexuals to attempt to push their ways into our homes...and then we will have no rights whatsoever.

I have no problem with homosexuals doing whatever they do as long as I am not 'forced' to interact with them against my will. Where are my rights? And those of others who might feel the same way?
