Nintendo's new console, previously codenamed Nintendo Revolution but now revealed as simply Wii, was crowned Best of Show out of more than 1,000 products that debuted at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.
Retailing at about $250 and featuring a radical wireless controller and a low-profile console, Wii is set to be released later this year. It will directly compete with the PS3, to be released in November and retailing at $500, and the XBox 360, which was released in November 2005 and currently retails for $300. Everyone seems to have their favorite game console, but could this award foreshadow a Wii victory?
I've never been a console guy. The only console I've ever owned was a Nintendo64, which was a gift my freshman year of college back in 1997, and I only ever bought two games for it: Mario Kart and Golden Eye 007. Granted, those two games resulted in hours and hours of fun, but I have always been partial to RTS games and, thus, to the PC gaming world.
I must admit, though, that the Wii's low pricetag, ability to download old-school games, low-impact profile and revolutionary controller has me considering getting one. If I'm almost convinced, my guess is that the Wii may have a good chance of winning the console war.

"Retailing at about $250"
The final price has yet to be determined. The $250 figure is the 'ceiling' set by Nintendo.
"will not exceed $250 in America,"

It's almost certain that Nintendo will stick to the historical $200 that it has followed with both the N64 and Gamecube. I think the SNES also went for $200
