The stories of J.R.R. Tolkien have enraptured the world and left their indelible mark on the genre of fantasy literature. More recently the Peter Jackson adaptation of Tolkien's Lord of Rings novels into a film trilogy together garnered a total of 30 Academy Awards. But despite Tolkien's death in 1973, avid fans have something new for which to look forward - a new book. The Children of Hurin, a story left unfinished by Tolkien, will go on sale next month, having been completed over 30 years by Tolkien's son Christopher. Though the publisher of the book has kept the details under close guard, it is said to be set in a time period far preceding the events of the Lord of Rings (i.e., First Age) and details the exploits of a hero, Húrin, who defies the evil but, in the process, brings great tragedy on his family.

silmarillion by Bortnyk :: NR6 :: Show
I hope it's an easier read than the Silmarillion. That snoozer knocked me out in the first chapter. Something about singing the earth into creation.
