Beta-carotene, vitamin A and vitamin E may not be the panacea of health they have been made out to be over the past few years. Rather, a recent study published by the Cochrane Collaboration reveals these vitamins were actually increasing the mortality rate in its users! The study included almost a quarter million test subjects and revealed increased mortality risks between four and sixteen percent. A supplement creating nutritionist countered the Cochrane report saying, "Antioxidants are not meant to be magic bullets and should not be expected to undo a lifetime of unhealthy habits. But when used properly, in combination with eating a healthy diet full of fruit and vegetables, getting plenty of exercise and not smoking, antioxidant supplements can play an important role in maintaining and promoting overall health."
Regarding healthy habits, researchers in Australia released a report indicated that masturbating men (at least five times per week) reduced their risk of prostate cancer by a factor of three. The research team leader, Graham Giles of the Cancer Council Victoria in Melbourne explains, "It's a prostatic stagnation hypothesis. The more you flush the ducts out, the less there is to hang around and damage the cells that line them."
