More Peak Oil Predictions

Newspaper current event by PowerPointSamurai on 30 March 2007, tagged as technology

Peak oil is again in the news. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report on energy supplies (1.1MB pdf) yesterday predicting oil will peak by 2040. R2 Blog has a very good analysis of this report, as usual.

Science Daily has another peak oil prediction, pegged at 2018 or as soon as next year, according to a dissertation published at Uppsala University in Sweden by Fredrik Robelius.

If oil does peak in the near future, what should be done about it?

Alternative fuels by Anonymous :: NR0

There seems to be a groundswell of effort in making new sources of energy, my money would be on synthetic fuel created by the depolymerisation of household waste (food, paper, wood, tyres etc), compressed air vehicles (yes, they do exist), and methanol fuel cells.
