Microsoft announced recently that the service formerly known as Passport will be a 'Windows LiveID' and that starting June 20th, users can sign up for a new email address with the domain @live.com or @windowslive.com. 'This is a great opportunity to make get the account name you have always wanted,' says the Windows Live Mail team. Judging from the site's appearance (relatively clean lines, white backgrounds, far less clutter than MSN) and features, it appears directly poised to compete with Google's GMail.
