McDonald's is in the news again after launching a new worldwide initiative Tuesday promoting healthy living and settling a legal bout with BanTransFats.com.

This may not be surprising, considering the success of (and subsequent 'Best Documentary' nomination of) Morgan Spurlock's Supersize Me. But, as Chelsea Synder hilariously contends in a BGNews column, the American media and public seem to be missing the point.

For those not up to speed on the issue, TransFreeAmerica.org issued a Press Release in September 2004 that explains McDonald's broken promise that resulted in the lawsuit. Although McDonald's has done much to improve it's image healthwise, The Center for Science in the Public Interest has a news release concerning the McDonald's Lawsuit Settlement in which they urge McDonald's to "keep its promise and change its frying oil".
