Military service members will receive a lower than expected pay raise in 2008 thanks to the veto of National Defense Authorization Act of 2008. Despite the veto, soldiers will still receive a 3.0% raise as a result of standing laws designed to match inflation. It is expected that the additional 0.5% will eventually be passed within the House and retroactively compensated to military members.
