Lower Pay Raise for Servicemembers

Newspaper current event by VnutZ on 05 January 2008, tagged as military and budget

Military service members will receive a lower than expected pay raise in 2008 thanks to the veto of National Defense Authorization Act of 2008. Despite the veto, soldiers will still receive a 3.0% raise as a result of standing laws designed to match inflation. It is expected that the additional 0.5% will eventually be passed within the House and retroactively compensated to military members.

For shame - the Pentagon's 2007 Congressional budget topped out at $6.4bn - the second highest global military budget is China; at $81bn.
