A recent article in the LA Times detailed kidnapping charges filed in Germany against three American pilots who conducted a covert CIA-sponsored "extraordinary rendition" flight. The accused are known to German authorities only by aliases, however the LA Times claims to have confirmed their real identities from government databases and even visited their homes. The Times report then goes on to detail personal information about the three men, such as the area where they live, physical descriptions, the kinds of cars they drive, and even hobbies, although stopping short of revealing their names because "they have been charged only under their aliases."
Considering the uproar over New York Times columnist Robert Novak's "outing" of CIA Valerie Plame in his "Mission To Niger" article, how close is the LA Times to causing a similar event?
