For the first time in history, Japanese scientists have successfully photographed a giant squid in its natural habitat. Thought to be an adult female, the squid became entangled when preying on the scientists' bait, which was lowered to a depth of 900 metres.
Once again man becomes bewildered by the unknown, and nature continues its challenge. Previously thought to be a lumbering, lethargic creature, the squid presented itself as an active predator with fierce intention. Up to 50 feet in size, this sea monster is our aquatic dinosaur. One can only imagine its reign in its own world.
