In March of 2007, Utah took a bold initiative with CP80 by attempting to corral all Internet pornography into a smaller, non-obvious niche. Iran has taken the action two steps further after lawmakers voted 148-5 in favor of capital punishment for all pornographers. The bill calls for the execution of the complete cast including producers, directors, cameramen and actors. Pornography has always existed "under the table" in Iran, irritating the theocracy. Previous efforts to snuff exposure included a similar measure taken by China: complete blockage. Rumor has it the execution legislature was conceived following a Hilton-esque video of Iranian TV star Zahra Amir Ebrahimi having sex that rampantly spread throughout Iran.

Porn, Theocracy and Human Nature by VnutZ :: NR8 :: Show
I just wanted to ponder out loud for a bit on the vote ... 148-5. That makes you wonder about the society a little bit. Islam is no different than any other religion in terms of people still being people. Just as you have Sunday Christians or non-practicing Jews and the like, there are Muslims that are only Muslim by locale or heritage. How many OIF veterans can recall the sheer number of brothels in Baghdad or the number of traffic stops involving drunks? Those are just two little pieces that really go against the mighty pillars of holiness that Islam adheres to. So anyway, as I was saying - people are people. Porn is pretty much a part of every society whether the white robed people at the top want to believe it is or not. And there's plenty of porn in Iran - enough such that the theocratic government has decided to do something about it.
Which makes you wonder about the merits of a theocratic government and its sway over constituents. When you are a member of the voting body and the issue at hand is DEATH FOR ALL WHO PARTICIPATE IN ABC and you start seeing a large number of hands in favor ... wouldn't it be prudent for self-preservation to also vote in favor? After all, if the measure passes, you don't want to be that "one guy" standing out as the porn addict now that it is a capital offense.
So I wonder how many of those votes are REAL votes and how many are just go with the crowd votes. Which in turn leads to the inevitable question - does a theocratic government really provide anything honest?
