Internet Browsers Fail New ACID Test

Newspaper current event by VnutZ on 09 March 2008, tagged as internet and programming

Ever wonder why webpages look awful in the Internet browser? It's mostly because despite Internet standards having been published for long periods of time, many developers simply choose to not adhere to them. As a means of providing a common test for all browsers to utilize, the WebStandardsProject released the new ACID3 compliance test. Thus far, browsers are failing the ACID3 test with abysmal compliance scores. Back in 2005, Apple's Safari 2 browser was amongst the few mainstream applications to actually adhere to the standards by passing the ACID2 test.

Another site has put up a running tally of ACID3 compliance scores. It should be noted that the ancient and crappy IE5.5 outscored new versions 6 and 7.
