Inmate Released in Response to Phony Fax

A fax from a grocery store filled with grammatical errors and not sent on letterhead could be enough to get you out of jail - at least in Kentucky. Correspondence of this kind did just that for an inmate charged with beating an elderly man simply by saying the Kentucky Supreme Court "demanded" his release. The mistake was not caught for two weeks, but the convict has since been re-detained.

I believe a similar ploy was used in the movie Idiocracy to escape. So sad.
