Hackers Penetrate Pentagon Email

Newspaper

current event by gnifyus on 22 June 2007, tagged as internetnetworking

As a result of a hacker compromising their systems, the Pentagon was forced to take 1500 of its unclassified email accounts offline. Officials deny that any classified or military information was compromised and claim the Pentagon is subject to hundreds of attacks on any given day. They would not reveal why this particular attack forced to system to be shut down or whether any email on the system was read by the hacker.

In related news, the Department of Homeland Security, the very agency in charge of ensuring security against cyber attacks, has disclosed that hackers have also penetrated their computers.
