US and Japanese researchers have announced that the composition of meat and milk from cloned cattle is no different than that obtained from naturally reared animals and that it is 'safe' for public consumption. The finding bolsters the assertions of certain segments of the food industry (companies like ViaGen and Cyagra, which offer livestock-cloning services to ranchers) that food products from clones should be allowed on the market. However, it is reported that other experts have criticized the report as incomplete and argued that, in any case, social and economic factors are against the sale of clonal food. While others are speaking out against the ethics involved, the FDA has been waiting for more conclusive evidence. Could this be it?
I wouldn't want to eat cloned meat (knowingly that is) unless I saw a study on people who for their ENTIRE lifetime ate cloned meat. I'd be curious to see those results.
i think we, as a species, are too clever for our own good. we're overpopulating this planet so ridiculously - living too long, reproducing unnaturally, gorging ourselves on food that most of us didn't even remotely contribute to.. with any luck, the cloned meat will slowly kill off any who eat it and stop any chance of us finding yet another way to go against nature.

I thought it was odd that I could find literally nothing to provide as a source for this. I'm interested in what the negative 'social and economic factors against the sale of clonal food' are. Anyone have sources/info?
