Four Score and Seven Comments Ago

Newspaper

Behold the latest addition to OmniNerd: comment scoring. This feature is meant to help the reader find the level of comment that he or she wants to read. If someone posts something that is particularly useful, we will annotate it as such using our scoring system. This way, if someone wants to go back and find the useful comments amongst the funny, non-sensical, and rambling comments, it will only require the click of the mouse.

Likewise, this allows us to downgrade any comments that have nothing or little to add to the conversation. We haven't really had the need to downgrade anything yet, but as our reader base grows, we're certain to get spammed with useless content. But fear not! Even the downgraded content is viewable when you lower your comment filter settings.

So, in summary, comments aren't getting blocked or discarded, but rather they are being put into categories. If this doesn't appeal to you, set you filter to the lowest setting and you'll never even notice the change. The attached article has all the details as well as some future plans. It's a working document, so we'd love to get your feedback.

Note: This does not affect or score any comments prior to this news post.
