The National Hurricane Center has announced the formation of Tropical Storm Alberto, the first named storm of the season. As of 10 AM CDT, it was northwest of Cuba and is projected to hit Florida early Tuesday. Hopefully, this season will not be as bad as last year's which had 27 named storms, 15 of which were hurricanes. All of the states along the Gulf coast are still recovering from that devastating season.
glad to see the storms are hitting florida this year and not being racist again.

Failure to see the long-term by ToxicMegacolon :: NR0 :: Show
A little off topic maybe but...
It's interesting to note the media coverage on failure of the government to properly protect individuals from hurricanes, or how global warming is on the rise...mostly because of car companies or oil companies.
Why, in light of the increasing number of storms hitting the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts do populations continue to grow? No reports of people leaving the area seem to be airing on the nightly newscasts. Sure living in Florida is nice...but is ten years of a pretty place to live worth having your home completely destroyed with all of your belongings when that Category 5 does come along? To me, it reflects Americans desire to seek pleasure in the short-term while failing to see the long-term consequences. Overeating is another classic example of that principle at work, unsafe sex is another.
