Many professionals are already well aware that businesses have adopted the practice of searching applicant's backgrounds with Google, MySpace and Facebook. This has led many individuals to either be very selective about their social network inclusions or to try erasing their Internet footprint altogether. Unfortunately, efforts to leave the Facebook network have proven difficult for most users. Even after deactivating an account, a user's information remains archived on the servers indefinitely. This feature allegedly exists so a user may return after a change of heart and not have to start over.
