When people think about literature, they think Shakespeare, Byron, Keats, et al. Undoubtedly, those authors were all great in their own time, but what about today? Who is bringing forth the great literary works that will be discussed in centuries to come? Nick Dilmore makes an interesting observation and suggests that comic books may indeed contain some of the better literature of our time as they couple both art and dialogue to bring their stories to life. In his article, he considers a work he contends to be among the best: The Dark Knight Returns.
