There appears to be a growing rift in the world of education. Increasingly, parents are pulling their children out of public schools in favor of homeschooling or private schools. The movement is led by evangelical Christians who argue that their beliefs are "disallowed" in the public school environment. Various groups, such as Exodus Mandate, are pushing for a greater reliance on homeschooling. Many are also hoping that various church denomonatins will officially endorse public school pullouts, however major efforts in that regard have failed thus far. Still, the movement continues to grow as parents increasingly look to homeschooling and private schools for their children.
And while public schools remain far and away the primary venue for education in the country, the number of people dissatisfied with American public education steadily mounts. Opponents of the trend argue that conservative groups have created "false rumors" to scare parents about public school practices. Others hope that parents can be coaxed back into using the public system, provided schools present a less hostile attitude toward religion. One must wonder, however, if this issue will become more heated in the years to come. R. Albert Mohler, the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, says that his denomination, which claims 16.3 million members, needs an "exit strategy" from public schools.
Is it a possibility that in the future, everyone would become just as superstitious and ignorant as the people in the Medieval time. Perhaps they would become more dependent on religion because of the present day super stress.

That, or they've actually talked to kids. How many kids, who might otherwise be excellent students, have anxiety attacks before going to school because of the harassment of one or more kids whose parents either never bothered to teach them to act civilized, or were bullies themselves and thinks it's a good trait to pass on? How many kids are distracted from learning by worrying about what the other kids are wearing, or listening to? How many parents have sent off their innocent, good natured, well behaved child to kindergarten and got back a kid who is less innocent (older kids on the bus talking about sex), and less good natured and well behaved (acting like a brat to fit in)?

Hell, more than even that, the California Ninth Court had ruled that parents have no intrinsic rights pertaining to when their kids get sex education, after some parents sued a California public school for giving kids as young as 6 a survey that asked explicit questions about things like oral sex! (Can't remember where to find the original story) Also, let's take into account stories of teachers veering from the course curriculum to rant and rave about their own political views.
If I had kids, I'd sure wanting to home school or private school.
People who send their children to public school should be sued for child abuse.

School Vouchers by Anonymous :: NR0 :: Show
This is why liberals in league with the NEA are against school vouchers, because they know it will cause tons of kids to leave their schools. If those kids leave, the liberals can't keep teaching these kids only what they want them to learn.
