Deplorable Conditions in Gaza

Newspaper current event by VnutZ on 11 March 2008, tagged as world affairs, middle east, israel, and hamas

Planned as far back as 2003, Israel's disengagement from Gaza took place in 2005. The move effectively "gave up" the land to the Palestinians to administer by forcibly removing all Israelis from the territory. In theory, it was a move that should have helped smooth relations and augment peace. Rather, a finding by human rights organizations in 2008 cite that conditions in Gaza are at their lowest levels since Israel seized control in 1967. The report describes the unemployment, homelessness, hunger and infrastructure failures within Gaza and turns the blame on Israel for not having provided where Hamas failed.

JOOOOOS!!! by LordDilly :: NR8

Okay, so, Israel gave up Gaza, the Palis elected the genocidal Hamas to power, and the whole shebang went to crap, so obviously it's... Israel's fault., according to Amnesty International. Because the Israelis should have gone back into Gaza (were they are frequently attacked with rockets from, btw) and fixed stuff, while not at all re-occupying the area and fending off attacks from Palestinian terrorists who would insist the JOOOOS!! were, in fact, re-occupying Gaza. Which Amnesty International claims they are, anyway-- occupying, that is, because Israel controls land, air, and sea access. Egypt (which Gaza used to belong to, fyi) has a border with Gaza- doesn't that make Egypt an "occupying" force by AI's standard? Oh, look--my eyes have gone crossed. Anyway, I thought the Palis wanted their own state? Or, do they expect Israel to do all the hard stuff like maintain infrastructure? Also,
