Custom Menus for Registered Users

In our never ending quest to satisfy our readers (sounds like we care, doesn't it?), we have decided to give registered users some control over the right and left hand menus. O-nerds will now find a 'Custom Menus' section in their preferences. This allows you to decide which items display in the side menus and where. So if the menus seem cluttered to you, remove them. If you don't like the order of their display, rearrange them.

The 'quote of the day' is now available, in addition to the usual menu items. Several more are on the way, including a search bar, personalized links, etc. There are certainly a myraid of potentially useful things to include, so if you've got an idea please reply to this post or shoot me an email. And as with any new code, if you notice something that doesn't seem quite right, please let me know.

I think a great idea for a menu item would be rotating pictures of me. And each one could be linked to different sound files of me saying awesome things like "dag, yo" or "pissah." This could be the best addition to the site yet! I'm a freaking genius.

I think you should include some kind of OmniNerd dating service link in the menu bar. This seems to be the hottest thing now-a-days. You could bring together the socially struggling nerds out there who are just looking for another nerd with which to share the rest of their lives. You know, someone who will take long walks on the beach with them discussing romantic topics like the ethics of stem cell research and euthanasia. You could match single nerds by correlating their votes on the OmniNerd polls and the subject matter of their comments and news posts. Give it a few years and it could lead to a whole new generation of MINI-O'Nerds! I'm a genius!

believe it or not, just came across an online dating site that's actually called omnidate ... www.omnidate.com ... they use animation to get people to date, lol ... pretty cool
