Hearing voices? Scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics have discovered that brains seem wired to respond to voices of a homogeneous species. Using a fMRI scan of macaque monkeys, the researchers were able to identify similar brain regions responding to particular voices - macaque voices. The finding indicates that while brains can capture, process and interpret all sorts of sounds, there are dedicated regions within the brain for processing sounds of its own species.
