Big money awards for fuel efficient vehicle design.

The X Prize Foundation; the same group that awarded $10 million for the first private spaceflight two years ago, has now drafted another multimillion dollar contest for the person or company that can implement the design and production capabilities for a marketable car that achieves 100 mpg or greater. In similar fashion, last year, Congress proposed a $100 million prize under the H-Prize Act of 2006 for "transformational changes in technologies for the distribution or production of hydrogen that meet or exceed far-reaching objective criteria."
