Intuitively, it would seem a generation that has grown up so immersed in technology would have adapted to using it significantly better than those learning to use technology later in life. Yet, research sponsored by the British Library and the Joint Information Systems Committee shows that kids born since 1993, sometimes referred to as the "Google Generation," are not much better at sleuthing information from the Internet than anybody else. The findings debunk myths that this generation is more adept with the Internet or that the speed of information has made them more impatient than their elders. However, according to the research, children of this age are more prone to cut-and-paste in lieu of paraphrasing or writing original thoughts, utilize visual information in place of text, and also multi-task effectively.
