And Obama and Asian Leaders confront China’s Premier. Leaving the Chinese scratching their head, wondering if all that hollering are the real American intent or just Campaign scapegoat tactic followed by a bunch of copy-cat monkeys. I’m not sure if that’s the kind of reputation we want foreign nations to see, a country whose future leaders needs to act “big and tough” to impress the public. In fact, isn’t this the same tactic North Koreans use? They say all this crap about America and start shooting into the seas and yells this and screams that but nothing happened. I find it frustrating and irritating people are proud of American leaders acting in such immature ways. Also on a side note, we all know honest to God, why Obama must bring up human rights issue and criticize other nations, particularly China.
This comment continues, read the rest on OmniNerd.

I do believe our education system, k-12, is inadequate in teaching responsibility, ethics, and keeping the students busy. I do not believe half the teacher currently employed are capable of teaching our future bright young minds. Ethics are not taught in most public institutions for k-12.
1. As stated before, their size difference makes them impossible to compare on a equal level. I see no difference between the Jainism’s policy in self defense/justified violence and any other religion in comparison, therefore, the discrepancy is not a result of Jainism being a more benign religion, but rather a result of external factors.
For example, if Jainism was a more ‘popular’ religion, you would see something on the news now and then. The lack of violent example in this case is then perhaps due to their smaller number, relatively speaking. This comment continues, read the rest on OmniNerd.

Richard Ambron from Columbia University in New York City and his colleagues have discovered an ‘on/off’ switch for chronic pain. According to Ambron, ‘What happens in a chronic pain state is that the neurons become hyper-excitable. That is, rather than remaining rather dormant and unresponsive, they begin to fire in response to very, very mild stimuli. So we were interested in what is it that causes this hyper-excitability.’ The cause appears to be the malfunctioning of an enzyme called protein kinase G, or PKG. In instances of chronic pain when PKG is ‘on,’ neurons continue to send pain signals even after the injury that caused the pain is healed. Although medications and cures exist for chronic pain, they are neither effective nor pleasant in some cases. The discovery of this switch gives hope for an improved treatment.
