I am now completely hooked on two things: historical fiction from the period of the American Revolution, and brewing beer at home.
The Aubrey-Maturin series that starts with 'Master and Commander' is a great piece of historical fiction, centered on two fictitious characters built from journals and duty logs, etc. What makes it better is when the things in the series pop up in historical works like 'The Pirate Coast." All of these are on my book list.
As for brewing beer, I plan on writing two articles in the new year. The first will be on extract brewing for the novice, the second full mash brewing for the yeoman home brewer.
