U.S. Preparing for Potential New Wave of Haitians Fleeing North →www.foxnews.com

Haitians have been trying to come to the United States by boat for more than three decades, and U.S. officials are preparing for a potential new refugee crisis after this week's devastating earthquake.

Big deal. by Occams

Yeah. Very likely but so what? This is Fox News, an arm of the Republican Party. Let’s not let it manipulate us.

The once-mighty USA can still handle the Haitians, I hope.

Let’s not let it manipulate us.

1) Speak for yourself
2) Don’t assume the participants of this site are like you
3) Get off the fence

1) Speak for yourself

Who else would I be speaking for? Those of us who have registered on ON speak for ourselves. Anon speak for all anon,

2) Don’t assume the participants of this site are like you.

That is your mind set.
The only assumptions I make about other participants of this site, are that they are are sensible articulate adults who can stand the expression of an opinion that is different from their own, and show me why I am wrong. I assume that anonomii who ignore the subject and make personal attacks are the kind of people who have their opinions dictated to them and are intolerant of any alternative views.

3) Get off the fence

3. Fence separating what from what? People who make that comment usually don’t understand that intelligent people may have a diversity of opinion on a range of subjects that does not enable them to be easily slotted into the categories that are beloved of conservatives.

If you want to lecture me you will need to be more specific, articulate your thoughts better, and have a name to separate yourself from all the anonymous idiots. Anonymity is ultimate extreme of the fence-sitting sport.

If you intend to respond please address the subject, Haitian refugees, and don’t waste the few words you can express by attacking me. I don’t value your opinion of me, but I might value your opinion of the subject if you had one.

Come on, tell me how we can’t afford anymore illegal immigrants who will bring crime and disease into our country.

Your whole comment about Fox News and “manipulate us” is the basis of my comments. YOUR COMMENT adds nothing to the debate. You say SO WHAT and then you spew your rhetoric. You have no clue. You are a fence sitter….you claim to be from Australia, that you’ve lived in America long enough and that you choose to call only politics that are “democratic ass colors” good and anything else bad, yet when it is something the US does right, you’re all of a sudden and American and when it is something the US does wrong, you’re all of a sudden an Aussie. You, Sir, are pathetic.

Dopey dribble by Occams

Missed again, in every way.

I said we should not let Fox News manipulate us. You disagreed with that, so I conclude that you think we should let it mislead us. That is a reaction one would expect from a truly dopey person.

I have never claimed to be an Aussie. I think that is a country that is very like us, but it goes a different way on some issues and that makes an interesting contrast. Comparative public policy on many issues is a staple of ON debates. It is about comparing similarities and differences to learn if there is a better way. It says nothing about our loyalty to our country.

You accuse me of expressing strong opinions without regard to the feelings of those who think otherwise. Then you call me a fence-sitter? And you are an anonymous, expressing no opinions but making personal attacks! You have made no comment on the subject of the thread (Haitian refugees) and yet you accuse me of adding nothing to the debate.
What is your definition of “fence sitter”, and why are you not a master of the art?

Try to get it through your thick head that people who love America can and should still criticize it. That is how we make it better. Praising the policy of another country on some issues, does not make me an national of that country. This is not recess time at primary school. Grow up!

I don’t want the Haitians here … they were freeloading and killing each other in Haiti before the earthquake and they’ll just continue freeloading in the US. Why don’t they just go to the Dominican Republic next door? Why not go to Mexico, Canada or to France?

they were freeloading and killing each other in Haiti

Good thing us Americans never freeload or kill each other. Oh, wait. There may (notice the emphasis) be valid reasons for not wanting Haitian refugees here, but this sure isn’t one of them.

But they could still just walk across the country to the Dominican Republic before coming to the United States with less risk of life and limb. The fact that they’re attempting to come here first almost seethes of the the idea that they want (or believe) that our nation doles freebie handouts.

An IO campaign already seems underway using an EC-130 Command Solo to broadcast radio messages telling Haitians not to bother sailing to the US because they’ll be turned away. The message comes recorded from the Haitian Ambassador. This assumes they are listening to radios on their boats.
