That was worth my 4 minutes. There are so many amazing things in life that I have just come to take for granted. Somewhere along the way my appreciation has started slipping, and it is always helpful to have someone point out the obvious to me. I think it’s a constant danger for mankind, one that is easily remedied, at least in principle anyway: be grateful.

His point isn’t a novel one, though – and I don’t think it even depends on having amazing new technologies around you. I mean, the dudes with rotary phones could have said the same thing about how awesome it was they didn’t have to use telegraphs anymore.

The key, of course, is to look for happiness where you can actually find it. Technology, no matter how good, isn’t the answer.
