A great change by Brandon
Personally, I think this is a great change. There are far too many Latter-day Saints who seem to have assumed all Amerindians are descended from the Lamanites – and it isn’t a concept based in scripture. Of course, holding that opinion wouldn’t compromise your ability to worship, but I think it’s important for the "non-revealed" portions not to step on the toes of the revealed portions – for consistency’s sake, if nothing else.
