I could agree if by “providence” you mean luck or happenstance, because I don’t think it was really intentional. Sure the enlightenment gave us founding fathers who were wise and well informed on democratic ideas but the constitution was very flawed right from the start, and equality etc. did not include one important class of Americans – and therefore it was not about humans in general.

I think we should tone down the liberty rhetoric until we can make it a bit more true or we will continue to make ourselves look hypocritical in the eyes of the world.
