George Carlin and Southpark

… he was arrested that evening for offending members of the audiences …

This actually strikes me about the stupidity of people. Even if George Carlin’s routine had not included the infamous seven words, it’s no secret that his swearing up a storm is part of his regular shtick. Folks that take offense to that sort of thing shouldn’t even be in the audience in the first place.

I was fortunate enough to attend one of George Carlin’s final shows last May. He still swore like a sailor just like he always has. As a matter of fact, he opened his routine with the line, "F*** Lance Armstrong. F*** his one testicle. And F*** those little yellow bracelots."

So what sort of idiot goes to a George Carlin show and acts shocked about his material? Were there kids in the audience? Of course, a lot of families brought their children to a George Carlin show. Is it your fault if you’re offended? Yes.

I remember when I went to see the Southpark movie many years ago. A few rows from the front was a father figure and three kids that couldn’t have been more than ten years old. Who remembers how that movie began? How about the Shut-Your-F***ing-Face-Uncle-F***cker song?

I have no pity for people that are offended by performances when they must choose to allocate time for the event, choose to travel to the location, choose to pay an admittance fee and then choose not to leave.
