I know I may sound crazy, but thank you for being an O-Nerd, liking good music, and wanting to discuss it.
This is my first exposure to Shellac. The music is odd, but not too odd, in my opinion. Like The Books, I think their album might satisfy a particular corner of my music taste – a bigger corner, actually. I think it’s interesting they aren’t a full time band…
I’ve had Queens of the Stone Age stuff for a few years now, but I never have latched onto it. I was drawn into getting this latest album by their single and the good reviews, and it does seem to be on a slightly higher/deeper level than previous efforts. If I remember correctly, there have been significant personnel changes recently … I wonder if that has anything to do with it. In any case, my jury is still out on it.
I’m completely new to Nada Surf, also, but am very impressed with The Weight Is a Gift_. I’ll have to check out their other stuff (_Let Go first and foremost). It looks like they have a new album (Lucky) coming out in ’08, too.
Side question: Do you ever find yourself wishing there was a site on which you could enter the names of bands you’d like to track and then be notified of releases/concerts/happenings/etc.?
