In the small town of Saini Sunpura, India a little girl named Lali was born to a poor family. Lali differs from other children in that she was born with two faces. The director of the local hospital describes Lali as an otherwise healthy baby, "She drinks milk from her two mouths and opens and shuts all the four eyes at one time." But to local Hindus, Lali is not just a disfigured child. Rather, she is the beautiful reincarnation of the goddess Durga, a deity composed of the powers of many Hindu gods that thwarts evil. The family expresses no wish for surgical reconstruction.
